Looking for guests for a new, non-technical, podcast

I’ve been mulling the idea of doing a non-technical podcast for years, but now I’m finally going to do it.

Over those years, a variety of factors have caused me to pause, delay and outright abandon such a podcast. A few times I’ve built entire websites in preparation, but just could not commit. That’s about to change.

Whilst I love talking about WordPress and tech more broadly, and want to continue to do that for many years to come, it’s time for me to stretch myself and look towards new things to do alongside the existing things.

I’ve found that I’m curious about almost everything. This quote sums up my intention for the podcast perfectly:

Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesnโ€™t matter. Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough.

Richard P. Feynman

So the idea is to hold conversations with people who are:

  • experts in their field
  • able to speak intelligently, in an engaging, thoughtful way
  • willing to put up with my ignorance

The podcast episodes will have no through line, every single episode will be unrelated to the others. We might be talking about some aspect of history one time, and cosmology the next. Like I say, I’m really curious about almost everything, especially in the presence of expertise.

I’m going to allow the guests to send me 30 minutes worth of reading before we record, so that I can at least have a vague understanding of what it is that they’re talking about. Beyond that, I’m going to have a conversation, be guided by them, learn from them, and hopefully impart some knowledge in the direction of the audience in the process.

If you know anyone who fits the criteria of the list items above, that could be you, someone you know, or just someone you know of, please head to this page where you can apply to be on the podcast.

It’ll be a slow burn to start with, and I’m not going to bind myself to a particular schedule. The episodes will be published when they’re recorded, edited and ready. I don’t want this to become a weekly, monthly commitment, rather I’m hoping that it’ll be fun, thought provoking, and add some weight to the idea that we need expertise more than ever.

I’m also hoping that you subscribe and listen!

Oh, and it’s got the most unexpected title: The Nathan Wrigley Podcast – how’s that for innovative.

  1. Hey Nathan. Congrats and very cool. Sounds like the perfect “Nathan” podcast and, yes, aptly named. I am looking forward to the random nature and also, quenching my own curiosity. Cheers, mate.
