I read something the other day that really resonated with me. I won’t get the wording exactly right, but it went something like this.
We’re so used to consuming the content that other people create online, that we’ve forgotten the importance of creating things ourselves.
The person who wrote this went on to say that they don’t mean you ought to be creating online content – YouTube videos, TikTok content etc.
They meant that you should have meaningful, creative processes in your own life which give you a sense of enjoyment, ownership and satisfaction.
This could be taking time to create a nice meal, working on your garden, doing some woodwork – whatever you like is fine, it’s just the idea that you need to enjoy the process of creating things, and not just endlessly watch other people create things.
So I’m going to be mindful of that, and make more of an effort to be creative. Create things which I can derive enjoyment from during the process.
The journey is the point, not the destination.
