Until now, this website was using a Classic WordPress theme. That was all lovely, and the one that I’ve used for years never let me down.
But times have been a changin’ in the WordPress theme space, and now all the interesting things are happening with Full Site Editing themes. These are themes which use Blocks to create all-the-things.
Blocks for the header. Blocks for the content. Blocks for the footer. Blocks for all the templates.
It’s a leaning curve, but once you get your head around it, it’s got many many benefits. No need to create complex template files in php, just make them in the Editor and assign them where they’re needed. Easy… really!
This site has no extra plugins, so it should load really, really quickly – I’d love to hear from you if it’s not! There’s only a form plugin and an SMTP plugin added on top of vanilla WordPress.
It’s been fun getting to grips with all this, and I think that you should too!
